Hello and welcome to Year 5! My name is Miss Orviss, I am the class teacher and my fabulous Teaching Assistant is Mrs Mills.

In Year 5, we like to work hard! We are very competitive and we always do everything to the best of our ability. 

We always make sure to inject some fun, positivity and celebration into our week. 

We cover some brilliant units, such as: 

• Coding 
• Printing
• The French revolution
• Natural disasters
• Astronomy
• Australasia 
• The slave trade
• Architecture 

We also have a class set of glockenspiels which we learn to play in Year 5, which the children love. 

In Year 5, the children complete a 4 day cycling course, we go out onto the roads in the village in order to build children's confidence and road knowledge. 

I love to think up creative, exciting lessons so that the children have fun while they learn. From music videos to Science experiments, we try to make the learning as fun, engaging and memorable as possible.

We love to read in Year 5, we have a beautiful reading area full of a range of exciting texts. Children are encouraged to read in school and at home as much as possible because reading is the key to success! We enjoy a class story daily.
