History at Emneth Academy

History teaches a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain’s past and that of the wider world. 

Intent

Our History curriculum is designed so that it is ambitious for all learners. Knowledge, skills and concepts are clearly outlined in an age-appropriate and progressive way from Y1Y6, so that the children’s understanding is extended, year-on-year.

Implementation

The history curriculum inspires children’s curiosity to know more about the past. Children become equipped to ask perceptive questions, think critically, weigh evidence, sift arguments and develop perspective and judgement. The history curriculum helps children to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and relationships between different groups, as well as their own identity and the challenges of their time.
