Welcome to Year 2

The Class Teacher is Miss Sugden who is supported by Teaching Assistants Mrs Hill and Mrs Youngs.

In Year 2 the children have daily Reading, Maths and Writing lessons. The learning follows a knowledge-based curriculum that allows children to build their understanding and comprehension throughout the academic year. Most weeks, Year 2 has Science, RE, History, Geography, PHSE, Music, Computing and PE lessons. They explore units such as Ancient Egypt, Powerful Voices, the globe and the world, kindness, Judaism, electricity and so much more.

The children are encouraged to become independent thinkers and learners who are confident to learn from their mistakes. Throughout Year 2, the children work on progressing their phonemic awareness to enable themselves to become stronger readers and writers. They receive whole class support as well as targeted one to one and small group support in order to reach their highest potential. In Year 2, we love learning and endeavour to bring about a life-long love of learning within every child.
